Week 9 King Of The Shack Power Rankings

2017 KOTS Week 9 Power Rankings

Week 8 is now in the books, after some incredibly close matchups, a few key upsets and now 5 teams tied for 7th place Week 9 is shaping up to be one of the best weekends of football we could have ever expected. Monday night football capped up two heroic finishes, two owners were left devastated as their once secure wins dwindled with every passing second as the Broncos attempted a late rally against the Chiefs. One thing is for certain, Team Prime is the real deal. After two consecutive weeks of 190+ points, it is slowly becoming a reality that he could repeat as league champion in the near future. Will anyone be able to stand in his way? Will a dark horse candidate emerge from the depths of the 3-5 records? Stay tuned.

Week 8: Recap Statistics

Most Points Scored: Team Prime: 190 total points scored

Least Points Scored: TFuchs: 95 total points scored

Largest Margin of Victory: I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet: +65 points

Smallest Margin of Victory: Gronkemon Go: +2 points

Power Rankings

#1 - Team Prime (7-1) Last Week: 1 (This Week: Ballz Deep!)

Team Prime cruised to a 190-156 victory over Hernandez Hitmen (5-3) in Week 8, thanks to a few huge performances from the running back position early Sunday morning. After falling behind early, Team Prime called on LeSean McCoy (29 points) and Melvin Gordon (20 points) the two feature backs of this team who both rushed for 100+ yards on the ground and added a touchdown as well. To seal the deal, Russell Wilson (38 points) tossed 4 TD's against the Texans and widened the gap as Hernandez Hitmen quickly fell away from the league leader. Week 9 should be no different as Team Prime faces off against an average Rudy Was Offsides (4-4) team that will have its hands full coming into the matchup.

#2 - Silly Nannies (6-2) Last Week: 2 (This Week: Hernandez Hitmen)

For the first time in 6 games, Silly Nannies tasted defeat for just the second time this season, after narrowly falling to Rudy Was Offsides (4-4) by a score of 127-102. While this was a very disappointing loss for a dominant Silly Nannies team that had previously won 6 straight games, a simple roster adjustment with Ju-Ju Smith Schuster (32 points) could have turned the tables for Jake in Week 8. Both Tyreek Hill (3 points) and Danny Amendola (3 points) were smothered by opposing cornerbacks, leading to subpar performances and severely hampering Silly Nannies chances of pulling out the victory. Week 9 will put Silly Nannies up against rival Hernandez Hitmen (5-3) a matchup previously dominated by the Hitmen earlier this season. Can the new and improved Silly Nannies team rebound and take back control of this league?

#3 - Juan Too Many (5-3) Last Week: 3 (This Week: Gronkemon Go)
Juan Too Many suffered his second loss in as many weeks as Week 8 resulted in a humbling 128-140 defeat against underdog Game Of Jones (3-5). With Jordy Nelson (BYE) out this week, Juan Too Many had to turn from his star receiver and lean on the efforts of Jerick McKinnon (26 points) who bounced back in a big way this week crushing the Cleveland Browns. In addition to this performance, Mark Ingram (19 points) had another great day for the Saints, but lost two costly fumbles in the process would could be a problem for Juan Too Many going forward. Week 9 puts Josh in danger of losing 3 straight games with Gronkemon Go (3-5) coming to town. A team far better than the records show. If the stars show up it should be another victory for Juan Too Many, but only time will tell.

#4 - Hernandez Hitmen (5-3) Last Week: 4 (This Week: Silly Nannies)
Hernandez Hitmen suffered a humiliating loss in Week 8 at the hands of Team Prime. (7-1). After jumping out to a 35 point lead on Thursday night, thanks to the Ravens Defense (33 points), Noah ultimately fell by a final score of 156-190, not being able to muster up enough points to handle the high scoring offense of Team Prime. Wendell Smallwood (1 point) Kareem Hunt (9 points) and Jay Ajayi (7 points) amassed for a total of less than 20 points costing Hernandez Hitmen a chance of moving up in the league standings and limiting him to just an average weekend. With several key players on BYE in Week 9, Hernandez Hitmen will have to assemble a perfect lineup if he wants any chance of taking down Silly Nannies for the second time this season.

#5 - I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet (5-3) Last Week: 5 (This Week: Game Of Jones)

I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet is getting hot at just the right time, Week 9 is quickly approaching and Zac appears to have positioned himself well enough to at least earn himself a playoff bid when Week 14 rolls around. With a crucial 160-95 victory over TFuchs (3-5) Zac won his second straight game and did so with a well balanced effort from his all around players. Ezekiel Elliott (27 points) again dominated on the ground scoring 2 TD's and leading the Cowboys to victory, while Lamar Miller (21 points) helped out the Texans in a losing effort with a pair of touchdowns to add to his name as well. It was Jimmy Graham (18 points) however who hauled in 2 receiving touchdowns for the Seahawks and looks to have found his place amidst an emerging offense. Week 9 puts I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet against Game Of Jones (3-5) a matchup with huge playoff implications and with Elliott possibly out for this matchup, look for Game Of Jones to play spoiler.

#6 Rudy Was Offsides (4-4) Last Week: 7 (This Week: Martellus All About It)

Rudy Was Offsides earned his 4th win of the season with a statement victory over Silly Nannies (6-2) in Week 8, handling the perennial powerhouse and improving to .500 on the year with great aspirations moving forward. In the 127-102 win over Silly Nannies, DeAndre Hopkins (37 points) erupted for 200+ receiving yards in the Texans narrow loss against the Seahawks. DeShone Kizer (14 points) did just enough on his end for the Brown to get Rudy Was Offsides enough points to surpass Silly Nannies late Sunday evening. LeVeon Bell (14 points) also added to the effort with another dominant performance against the Lions where he rushed for 70+ yards and found paydirt in the process. Week 9 puts Rudy Was Offsides against Martellus All About It (3-5) a pivotal matchup for both teams in what could be on the most watched games in league history.

#7 Gronkemon Go (3-5) Last Week: 9 (This Week: Juan Too Many)

Some guys just have all the luck. Such as Gronkemon Go, who snuck out of the Monday night game with a 121-119 victory over a tough Ballz Deep! (3-5) team that was smelling the upset. The win keeps Justin's playoff hopes alive and with a roster still loaded with depth and stardom, a late playoff run could be in store for this team. In the win, Jordan Howard (14 points) and the Panthers Defense (18 points) were the high scorers for Gronkemon Go as both stepped up this week with key player Larry Fitzgerald (BYE) having the week off. If Gronkemon Go can continue to squeak out the wins and manage this team correctly he has a great chance of making the playoffs. Week 9 will be a test however, as Justin faces off against one of the leagues best Juan Too Many (5-3), is there an upset in the making?

#8   Martellus All About It (3-5) Last Week: 10 (This Week: Rudy Was Offsides)

Martellus All About It also found a way to win in Week 8, rising from the ashes to pull out a late season saving victory over 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One (1-7) earning his 3rd win of the season and all but saving his playoff hopes. With a close 106-101 win, the Broncos did just enough to hold back the Chiefs from blowing the game open, securing the win for Logan. Deshaun Watson (35 points) is making the rest of the league look silly, as the rookie tossed 4 TD's against a strong Seahawks defense and getting Texans fans excited for the foreseeable future. With Leonard Fournette (BYE) and DeMarco Murray (BYE) having off this week, Martellus All About It was lucky to escape, but will welcome back the services of his star players in Week 9 in a key matchup with Rudy Was Offsides (4-4). The winner of this game will gain serious traction heading into the 2017 KOTS playoffs and the loser could potentially be sent home packing.

#9 Game Of Jones (3-5) Last Week: 11 (This Week: I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet)

Game Of Jones got a huge boost in Week 8 with a upset win over heavily favored Juan Too Many (5-3). The win puts Game Of Jones into the playoff conversation for now, and if he can string together a few wins down the stretch, this could be a sleeper team ready to make noise in the playoffs. Winning by a final score of 140-128, Game Of Jones was led by balanced efforts throughout his team. Julio Jones (10 points) appears to be building up a rapport within the Falcons offense, posting double digits in consecutive weeks now. Travis Benjamin (18 points) had a surprising output for the Chargers, finding paydirt and getting a few carries on the ground as well. Kirk Cousins (11 points) struggled in a favorable matchup, and will have to improve on the lowly performance in the upcoming weeks matchup. Week 9 puts Game Of Jones in a showdown with I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet (5-3). Another chance to pull an upset against the leagues top teams. This could be the turning point for Nathan!
#10 TFuchs (3-5) Last Week: 6 (This Week: 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One)

With a lowly 95 total points scored in his 95-160 blowout loss to I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet (5-3). TFuchs drop from his promising #6 spot on the rankings down to the #10 spot. With Todd Gurley (BYE) out this week, the task ahead of Tyler was already massive, but a questionable performances from multiple players is starting to raise some eyebrows around the league. Is this team capable of putting together quality wins, week in and week out? That is the question owner Tyler will have to answer. Rob Gronkowski (16 points) was his usual self in week 8, dominating all competition, but aside from that performance, DeVante Parker (Ankle) was left in his starting roll despite being held out of the Thursday night game, while Robby Anderson (22 points) who is developing trust with QB Josh McCown was left on TFuchs' bench. Week 9 could be a turning point for Tyler as he will face off against 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One (1-7) in what should be a given victory.

#11 - Ballz Deep! (3-5) Last Week: 11 (This Week: Team Prime)

Ballz Deep! was hot and coming off a narrow Week 7 victory, but the tables were turned in Week 8 as Ballz Deep! just came up short against Gronkemon Go (3-5) losing 119-121. Despite the loss, Ballz Deep! stays in the hunt, but a tough matchup in Week 9 with Team Prime (7-1) could quickly dissipate any hopes that Matt has of gaining ground on the rest of the league. Will Fuller (29 points) and Jamison Crowder (22 points) were left on the bench in Week 8, which would have given Ballz Deep! the victory. Meanwhile Mitch Trubisky (9 points) had a very lackluster performance for the second straight week attempting to fill the void with Marcus Mariota (BYE) out this week. With questions still looming at the RB position for this team, its hard to say whether Ballz Deep! has a legitimate chance of making the playoffs, but if Matt can manage the crowded receiver depth, there still might be a chance.

#12 - 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One (1-7) Last Week: 12 (This Week: TFuchs)

The tragedy of 2017 continues, as Juan suffered another close defeat in Week 8, this time coming at the hands of Martellus All About It (3-5), who squeezed out a 106-101 victory against 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One. An errant throw from Alex Smith missed tight end Travis Kelce (26 points) which had he been able to haul in the pass would have given Juan the victory and ended the losing streak. Dontrelle Inman (0 points) provided no spark in Week 8 for Juan, while Jeremy Maclin (14 points) was left on the bench, who could have also given Juan the victory against Logan. Week 9 puts 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One, against TFuchs (3-5). While the season seems to be all but lost this season, he now will play the role of spoiler for the remainder of the regular season.
