2017 King Of The Shack Final Standings & League Recap

2017 KOTS Season Recap

The 2017 season comes to a final close for the fourth annual season, on Christmas day, one team got the ultimate present of the Shack Daddy Trophy and lifted it high in joy for the second time in two years. Team Prime, the league juggernaut proved once again that offense does win championships, as he took down Hernandez Hitmen 148-122 riding the wheels of his running backs and quarterback Russell Wilson. As the dust settles over the season, there were moments of rejoicing, and moments of sorrow, rookies that found a permanent home on multiple rosters and veteran players who went down with what could be their final injury. Despite all that, 2017 marked a season of new addition into this historic league, ones that everyone is grateful for. The KOTS League says thank you to all who participated this season and looks forward to an even better 2018 season.

2017 Power Rankings (Early 2018 Preview)

 1. Team Prime (13-2) League Champion

Team Prime raised his second consecutive banner in Week 16, defeating Hernandez Hitmen 148-122 and winning his second King Of The Shack Championship. Now no stranger to the Shack Daddy trophy, Team Prime has another chance in 2018 to build his dynasty and repeat for the third straight year. Melvin Gordon (255 points) and LeSean McCoy (248 points) proved to be two of the most worthwhile keeper picks a team could have. Although, Tyler will have a decision to make for the 2018 as Christian McCaffrey (204 points) and Alvin Kamara (278 points) could both be first round picks in 2018. It will be difficult to repeat the 2636 points that he scored this season, over the league average of 2100. With some proper draft research and the right keeper picks, Team Prime could be 'primed' again for another run at the championship in 2018.

2. I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet (10-6) 3rd Place Finish

Patience is the key to Zac's success. Despite taking a knowing risk in 2017 with Ezekiel Elliot (180 points) who was suspended for six of the Cowboys games, I Can't Think Of Anything Clever Yet finished with a third place finish in 2017, after defeating Silly Nannies in Week 16 116-100. Consider this a huge win for Zac who earns the consolation spot along with a keeper in Elliot for the next three seasons if he so chooses to do so. Jimmy Graham (157 points) proved his worth finally finding a solid rapport with Russell Wilson, and dominating the Tight End position this season. In addition to this steal, Zac acquired Adam Thielen (222 points) at a low price which turned into a money trade as Thielen was one of the top receivers in the league this season. In 2018, Zac will have to overcome the loss of a 5th round pick, but should be at the top of the league next season with Elliot and Thielen as potential keeper players.

3. Hernandez Hitmen (12-4) Runner Up

Hernandez Hitmen gave it his all this season, after a devastating 2016 season, owner Noah Ballweg was determined to do whatever it took to win the Shack Daddy trophy. Unfortunately, injuries piled up and Hernandez Hitmen fell short in the Week 16 championship game, losing 122-148 to Team Prime. Early on in the season, David Johnson (wrist) went down for the year, then as the playoffs began, Carson Wentz (272 points) was poised for a Super Bowl run but tore his ACL. As Hernandez Hitmen geared up for the championship, Antonio Brown (306 points) tore a muscle in his calf and missed on on the final game. With some tough keeper decision upcoming for the 2018 season, what will hurt Hernandez Hitmen the most is the loss of his second round pick, which was given up in hopes of the championship and nothing less. We will see how Noah responds, can he fight his way into contention next season, or will see a repeat of the 2016 season?

4. Juan Too Many (6-8)

In Week 6, Juan Too Many held a 5-1 record, leading the league in points scored with a wide-open horizon towards the playoffs. Week 14, Juan Too Many stumbles into the playoffs having won only one game in his last seven matchups, with injuries piling up, affecting his scoring output Juan Too Many gave it his best, and will look to rebound in the coming season. Mark Ingram (259 points) will be a name that Juan Too Many will want to pay attention to, as Ingram could receive a big payout this offseason and sign with a team desperate in need of a running back. Mike Evans (183 points) who was a 2016 keeper for Juan Too Many, had an up and down season with a suspect Tampa Bay offense, and a decision will have to be made whether Evans in worth the investment or not. Chris Thompson (144 points) missed the final 5 games of the 2017 season with a broken leg. Despite his injury concern, look for Thompson to take over a Redskin offense in need of consistency in their backfield in 2018.

5. Silly Nannies (9-6)

A fourth place finish in 2017 for Silly Nannies is nothing for owner Jake Strohkirch to be ashamed of, battling back from a tough 2016 season, Silly Nannies reached the playoffs for the very first time after an 8-5 season which tied him for third among the league leaders. Led by his strategic pick of Aaron Rodgers (125 points) boosting Silly Nannies through the early half of the season, when Rodgers went down, it was Kase Keenum (219 points) found his niche with the Vikings offense and proved to be a turning point for Jake's season. JuJu Smith-Schuster (155 points) was a waiver wire pickup for Silly Nannies this season, and should be a very bright spot within an explosive Pittsburgh offense for the next few season, he is keeper material along with Tyreek Hill (228 points) who has the speed to fit into any offense in the NFL, Hill should be a solid PPR wide receiver for years to come and should be big piece for Silly Nannies going forward. In 2018, Silly Nannies will look to capitalize on this seasons success and with a few great keeper options he should be able to do just that.

6. Gronkemon Go (8-6)

After a very strong finish in the regular season, where the league saw Gronkemon Go win six straight beginning in Week 7 to find himself in the playoffs for the third consecutive year. As the #4 seed, Gronkemon Go was however upset and the hands of Silly Nannies who knocked off one of the most consistent teams in the KOTS League. Justin will be back next year, better and more focused on the elusive Shack Daddy trophy that he has been in search of since his arrival into the league. Gronkemon Go will have some tough decisions going forward for the 2018 season, with a handful of players that he will have to choose from as his keeper picks. Jordan Howard (187 points) was the workhorse back for a struggling Chicago offense this season, and despite some poor outings and a few injures, he could be a viable option going forward. Larry Fitzgerald (242 points) as a veteran continues to be a Top 10 wideout in the fantasy realm, and has proven that despite his quarterback he will put up consistent numbers. Lastly Devin Funchess (176 points) developed into a proven redzone target in the Panthers offense and is now arguably Cam Newtons favorite target. If Gronkemon Go can continue his winning ways in the regular season, his balanced effort should pay off in the long run.

7. TFuchs (5-9)

One name, Todd Gurley. The inaugural season for owner Tyler Fuchs did not go as planned, despite owning the number one player in fantasy Toddy Gurley (368 total points) who is flourishing within a high powered Rams offense. A steal in the second round, TFuchs had the makings of a great team, but could not put it all together as the season moved on. 2018 will give Tyler another chance to make his name in this league, and should have good success going forward as he acquired a high draft pick in exchange for Rob Gronkowski (221 points). With the third pick in the 2018 draft, TFuchs should be loaded with talent next season, but will have to make some decision on who he wants to hold on to as a keeper pick. Doug Baldwin (192 points) was the lone 2017 keeper for TFuchs and is a solid option for next season, while rookie Robby Anderson (190 points) is going to be solid receiver threat for the Jets if they can get their offensive schemes rolling.

8. 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One (4-10)

One of the toughest seasons to endure for 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One, who lost multiple players for the season due to injury, never fully allowing Juan to get his team back on track. He proved his moxie however, rallying his roster to four wins on the season, despite being depleted at every position. Next season looks promising for Juan, who will hold seven picks within the first five rounds of the draft along with some solid keeper options as well. He will be one of the best teams next season as the veteran owner has proven to improve despite his circumstances. Josh Gordon (39 points) came back for four weeks at the end of the season to put up consistent numbers, if he has a whole offseason to fit into the offense, we could be looking at the '13 Gordon who ran the table at the WR position. Cooper Kupp (171 points) led all rookie receivers in the NFL this season, and showed the ability to bounce back with big play ability each week. Although just a rookie, Kupp could be a potential keeper in 2018. Finally, the man child Travis Kelce (226 points) who absolutely crushed the completion at the tight end position, being one of the most targeted players in the NFL. Kelce was a 2017 keeper for 99 Problems But A Lynch Ain't One, and makes his case to be the same for the upcoming season as well.

9. Rudy Was Offsides (7-9)

A disappointing for Rudy Was Offsides in the 2017 season, after a 9-4 finish and a playoff berth in the 2016 season, Rudy Was Offsides, was prepared to make a title run, but came up short in the regular season. Due to a few injures, and some questionable lineups, Luke was unable to make the jump to elite status although he seemed to have all of the makings to do so. Dak Prescott (239 points) did not have a poor season by any means, but did fail to score more than seven points in four games this season, led to a few heartbreaking losses for Rudy Was Offsides. Le'Veon Bell (327 points) carried the way in 2017 for Luke, a keeper from a year ago, Rudy Was Offsides should be able to hold onto his keeper status for one more year, allowing for an already promising 2018 season. Michael Thomas (236 points) of the Saints found his own in an offense that lost their primary deep threat, this meant double the targets for Thomas, who going forward could be a very effective keeper. Look for Rudy Was Offsides to come into the 2018 draft, prepared to do battle with the big dogs and take that extra step in next years playoffs.

10. Martellus All About It (8-8)

An 8-8 season for Martellus All About It in his first season of fantasy football. Definitely not the start he was hoping for, but nothing to hand his head about as he fought his way through the Losers Bracket to secure the number one pick in the 2018 KOTS Draft. As all owners do, Logan will experience his growing pains in the 2018 season, as he sent away multiple picks within the first ten rounds which could have consequences in the coming season. Martellus All About It has proven to be bold and willing to take chances to ensure victory for himself. Leonard Fournette (203 points) was an excellent rookie first round pick, and had it not been for a few absences this season, Logan could have found himself battling in the playoffs this season. Jarvis Landry (233 points) a keeper pick at the beginning of the season, again proved to be one of the most targeted players in the NFL, leading the Dolphins in all receiving statistics. It is presumed that Martellus All About It will hang onto his keeper status and ride the rising receiver into next season.

11. Ballz Deep! (5-9)

Ballz Deep! battle through and through this season, but was unable to match the 8-5 season he posted a year ago, and now instead is battling the Christmas blues as he misses out on the playoffs. A few notable players for Ballz Deep! had severely underwhelming seasons, Amari Cooper (131 points) a keeper from last season, dealt with injuries, drops and poor usage all season long, giving reason for Ballz Deep! to ship him off at the mid point of the season. Jamison Crowder (151 points) a sixth round draft choice in 2017, failed to live up the hype surrounding him as the Redskins offense sputtered at many times throughout their dismal season. However, Keenan Allen (243 points) finally lived up to the expectations of Ballz Deep! who has been a Allen supporter since his entrance into the league. Unfortunately, Allen is not keeper eligible, living owner Matt Kippley with Alshon Jeffrey (188 points) as a solid option for next season, although questions do loom with Carson Wentz most likely being out for a few months of next years season.

12. Game Of Jones (3-11)

Game Of Jones matches Hernandez Hitmen and Rudy Was Offsides as the only teams to win three or less games in a season. After very high expectations at the beginning of the 2017 season, the reset button has to be hit for owner Nathan Fritschler who will have to make some changes over the offseason. Julio Jones (232 points) did not live up to his first round pick status...again, and was over 100 points behind the scores of comparable players at his caliber. This, along with the inconsistent play from Kirk Cousins (261 points) who scored 15 or less points in his matchups in half of the Redkins games. Game Of Jones will have to do a major overhaul this offseason deciding if he wants to save some players as keepers or give his team an entire makeover in hopes of improving in the 2018 season.
